THE WHY
Rice is our staple food. Its supply will affect our economy, causing inflation – the rise of all product prices. In the end, poverty will rise again. For that reason, rice supply security is very important.
As the rice producer country, Indonesia currently has an issue with it that makes rice prices in some regions rise consecutively. Climate change, war, and the supply chain issue may be the root causes. We must optimize our rice field productivity to strengthen our food security.
Regarding rice productivity in NTT, we saw that it’s still low compared to national productivity. With that huge potential, we wanted to help farmers increase their rice productivity. PAI developed PPAI technology as part of our end-to-end ecosystem to increase yield and farmer wealth while also preserving the environment.
What will you do?
- Sales and farmer acquisition Offering PAI intervention products, mapping the target rice cultivation area, planning and conducting socialization, and follow up with potential farmers until they are ready to join the PPAI program.
- Rice cultivation support Accompanying farmers in the planning, management, and harvesting of rice. The mentoring process is carried out to increase the productivity of rice fields with the intervention of PPAI.
- Supporting offtaking activities (rice business) Build relationships with farmers through regular visits to their homes and land (outside of mentoring activities) in order to build trust with each other for ease in transacting rice at harvest time
- Build communication with the government Conduct introductions and approaches to relevant agencies (Dinas pertanian dna Badan Penyuluhan Pertanian) to get support for socialization activities, rice cultivation assistance and also purchase of crops.
