Pekanbaru, September 4, 2026 – Pandawa Agri Indonesia (PAI), a life-science company developing innovative solutions for sustainable agriculture, continues to strengthen its collaboration with First Resources Riau through a Sustainability Education Forum held at PT Meridan Sejati Surya Plantation (MSSP) and PT Arindo Trisejahtera 2 (ATS 2) on September 3–4, 2026.
Under the theme of “Educate to Innovate,” the forum served as a knowledge-sharing forum for plantation operational teams, focusing on sustainability and the responsible use of crop protection products.
Bringing together plantation operational personnel, from foremen to General Managers, the forum aimed to build a more comprehensive understanding of the relationship between productivity, responsible chemical use, and the long-term sustainability of plantation operations.
“Sustainability in the plantation sector is not only about achieving environmental targets at the corporate level, but also about how these practices are implemented in day-to-day operations. Therefore, education on responsible chemical use, or chemical stewardship, is important to ensure that everyone involved in field operations understands how crop protection products can be used effectively, appropriately, and responsibly,” said Junia Anindya, Sustainability Manager at Pandawa Agri Indonesia.
According to Junia, collaboration between technology companies and plantation industry players plays an important role in driving improvements in field practices. Education serves as a key foundation to ensure that innovations are not only understood from a technological perspective, but can also be implemented while considering safety, efficiency, and environmental impact.
“For us, education and innovation are inseparable. Technology can provide solutions, but a strong understanding of how it is used ultimately determines the value it can deliver in the field. Through forums like this, we want to continue engaging with our partners on how operational practices can evolve to become more effective and sustainable,” Junia added.
Introducing the Next-Generation of Weed Management Innovation
As part of the forum, Pandawa Agri Indonesia also introduced Yosky Pro®, its latest innovation in p-glufosinate technology, developed to address the evolving needs of weed management.
Yosky Pro® has undergone field trials at First Resources Riau and demonstrated strong performance in weed control. The innovation uses high-purity L-glufosinate. Unlike conventional glufosinate, which generally consists of a mixture of D- and L-isomers, Yosky Pro® is formulated with a focus on the L-isomer, which provides the herbicidal activity.
Based on this approach, Pandawa Agri Indonesia uses the term p-glufosinate, with “p” referring to pure, to describe a glufosinate technology designed with higher and more consistent purity.
Prabawati Putri, Research and Innovation Manager at Pandawa Agri Indonesia, explained that the development of Yosky Pro® was driven by the need to continuously improve the effectiveness of weed management technologies.
“Glufosinate is becoming increasingly important in weed management, particularly as the industry faces a changing herbicide landscape and challenges related to resistance to certain active ingredients. At the same time, we see opportunities to improve its performance. Yosky Pro® was developed to address this need through a formulation with a high level of L-glufosinate purity,” said Prabawati.
According to Prabawati, product development goes beyond formulation in the laboratory. Field testing is an essential part of the process to ensure that innovations deliver performance that is relevant to actual plantation operating conditions.
“Trials at First Resources Riau have given us the opportunity to directly observe how Yosky Pro® performs under actual field conditions. The results were very positive and provided valuable input for the further development of this technology,” Prabawati explained.
Glufosinate is also receiving increasing attention as an option for weed management. As the use of Paraquat faces increasing restrictions in various countries and challenges related to Glyphosate resistance continue to emerge, the need for alternatives with different weed-control characteristics is also growing.
“Each active ingredient has different characteristics. The challenge is not simply to replace one active ingredient with another, but to develop weed management approaches that are effective, consistent, and suited to plantation needs. Innovation in formulation and application technology is an important part of that journey,” Prabawati added.
Collaboration to Advance Sustainable Plantation Practices
From First Resources Riau’s perspective, the forum provided an opportunity to strengthen the operational team’s understanding while discussing technological developments that could support plantation operations.
Winarto, General Manager of PT MSSP, highlighted that the application of innovation in the field needs to deliver results that are relevant to operational needs, from weed control effectiveness to the durability of application results.
“Based on its application in the field, we have observed good weed-control performance with a relatively longer regrowth period. For us, this has the potential to help improve operational cost efficiency in the field,” said Winarto.
Winarto also added, “Forums like this also help our teams broaden their understanding of technological developments, select the right active ingredients, and see how technology can be applied more effectively and efficiently according to operational needs in the field.”
On the same occasion, Noverdy, Plantation Manager of PT Arindo Trisejahtera 2, noted that the application of technology in the field should also be supported by a strong understanding of safe and proper working practices.
“For us, the technologies we use need to deliver effective results while also supporting operational efficiency. This activity also helps our team improve their understanding of proper PPE use and safer, more effective, and more efficient spraying practices in the field,” said Noverdy.
Through the Sustainability Education Forum, Pandawa Agri Indonesia and First Resources Riau reinforced their shared commitment to advancing more responsible plantation practices through a combination of education, collaboration, and technological innovation.
